On this project our clients had a steep, sloped garden. They split the completion of their project, which included garden steps, earth re-grading and constructing walls, over three years in order to spread out the cost.

As part of the re-design of the rear garden retaining walls and steps were built. Brick risers and Indian sandstone treads were used to compliment the walls and paving.
A radial pattern was decided upon and each step tread was cut to fit exactly.

Our clients wanted to replace the steps to the road with something new and tidier. We designed some steps to match into the rest of the garden and added a pergola over the top. As the steps get used at night we added lighting, which is activated by sensors placed on the pergola posts.

We were asked by a garden designer to assist in improving the soil and planting a garden in Oxshott, Surrey.

The garden had been previously landscaped but the ground was compacted and waterlogged. We removed and saved what plants had survived and set about double digging the beds and adding drainage.
A mix of organic compost and fine composted bark was added to the soil to improve the organic content and help separate the compacted soil.
The existing plants were divided up and planted along with new herbaceous perennials.

We were asked by our client to design and construct an entertaining area which would be sympathetic to their 18th century house.
The existing paving and grass areas were split on different levels creating awkward spaces that were too small and impractical.
Indian sandstone with brick detaling was chosen to compliment the old house. Drainage falls were crucial, as the main area was to be hard surface which would collect water. A rainwater harvesting tank was installed under the patio, which collected water from the roof gutters to supply the irrigation system.

We were asked to create some outdoor living space at a property in Farnham, as the existing rear garden rose at a steep angle from the back of the house.
We excavated over 200 tonnes of soil to create a terraced area retained by rendered blockwork walls.
We had to gain planning permission for the works as well as consulting structural engineers to ensure the walls would be strong enough to retain the upper ground.

Our client asked us to come up with a design to incorporate an endless, counter-current pool. Accuracy was vital in this project, where there was a minimum tolerance of 3mm and all drainage falls were crucial, due to the levels of the swimming pool.

When this repeat client approached us about designing and installing a water feature, our team was delighted to return to their garden. We work with a number of different water feature specialists and trusted electricians meeting different needs and budgets, so were able to assemble a great team for this project.

All water features need to be maintained, and have to be safe for both small children and pets. This bespoke water feature offered a consealed and safe stainless steel tankcan, creating a safe but beautiful water feature that out clients are very happy with.

Because of the steep garden, our clients wanted to create a short flight of stairs from the lawn to the house. The front door of the house had steps of a particular style, so our designers made sure to replicate the arts and crafts design of this featurelight.

We worked closely together to achieve an extremely high standard of travertine paving, laid to a precise pattern. We completed all of the hard landscaping for this client, including all of the planting for their stunning new garden. The images here were taken the summer after the planting took place – you can see how the garden has bloomed.

Having re-graded and landscaped this client’s garden, as well as building walls and garden steps, the final touch to this three-year project was the actual planting of their garden. It is in the garden planting phase that all of the aspects of landscape and building, house and garden are brought together to make a beautiful whole for the client to enjoy for years to come. This client did not have expansive knowledge of plants, and wanted a manageable and beautiful garden to enjoy.
